In Amazon’s Q4 of 2017, “Other Services” (which include advertising services and co-branded credit cards) located under Net Sales, experienced a year over year (Y/Y) increase of 62% and was the fastest-growing line of business of the quarter.
Not to mention that “92% of customers who start their purchase journey on Amazon, make their final purchase on Amazon.” People may still use Amazon to search for products, but you need to remember that it is a buying platform, that means that customers go on there with the intent to buy. That’s almost like prime real estate for your company.
Amazon is rapidly expanding its marketing offering and advertising tools.
If companies both on and off Amazon want to stay competitive and increase sales, they must integrate new channels with existing ones.
Although platforms such as Amazon Marketing Services or Amazon Advertising Platform, aren’t exactly new, they are frequently making changes, improvements, and testing out different features.
This also means that there are some common pain points with the platform in terms of reporting, data customization, lack of filters and support, not to mention the daunting (and time-consuming) task of figuring out how to market effectively on Amazon.
On the bright side, Amazon’s marketing and advertising platforms have a higher projected growth rate than other channels, which means less competition (and lower cost of advertising).
That being said, being a first-mover has its competitive advantages.
